My body, my baby, my choices!

The birth of my first child was in the comfort of our own home, supported by our private midwife. With the upcoming birth of our second child, we may be forced against our wishes into a birthing location not of our own choice due to an unavailability of midwives in our area. Hospitals are for sick / injured / dying. NOT a healthy birthing mother.

Thankyou so much to my independent midwife I was able to have an empowered birth at home after 2 csections. Please allow them to keep supporting us all, including vbac birthing women

If the government stops home birthing, mamma's will start free birthing, which I can only assume has higher risks than home birthing with a midwife (though I am not sure??) SO surely allowing home births with registered, insured midwives is the most sensible harm reduction strategy ever? Not to mention freedom of choice!

Birth choices are vitally important for healthy women, babies and families and to reduce the incidence of pnd, trauma and unnecessary interventions.

Australian's need to have Private Midwives insured so women have birth choices to birth at home! Please don't take this choice away from families.

If NZ & UK and countless other nations can provide women with choice then why can't Australia?

Women deserve choice.

Australian women deserve the right to choose where they birth their babies, not allowing midwives to be eligible for private indemnity insurance removes one of those choices.

Home birth has been proven through many studies in Australia and abroad to be a safe and important mode of care for many women. Home birth supports natural birth in a way other modes of care cannot and as such needs to be supported and an available option for all mothers.

Women should be given more options when it comes to birthing and this will enable this more so.

I am the child of a home birth. Funded by the National Health Service in the UK. I am also an advocate of body autonomy. If I woman wants to birth at home, she should be able to do so safely.

Not only this, but the government should be providing this indemnity. Without that, the government is effectively banning women's choice of birthplace.

Women should have real choice not just lip service to an idea. If women cannot access home birthing or a private midwife, they will freebirth without a qualified attendant and with the risk that entails.

I strongly support the right for women to birth at home with an independent midwife. Why is our world ruled by Insurance companies? I had my first baby safely at home & would ant the right to have more the same beautiful way my first baby came to the world. Thank you
