It is so important for women to be allowed a full range of choices about where, how and with whom they birth. Home birth is a safe choice for many women (not all), and denying access puts them at risk of many unnecessary procedures which may cause harm (physical, psychological, emotional) and at tax-payer expense. If a woman chooses to birth at home with a private midwife, she must absolutely be allowed that choice.

No one owns a woman's body, nor should they take away her right to choose where she births. It also makes economical sense. The backlash of no insurance for midwives will just be a whole host of women birthing unassisted. Watch the backlash on that one.

First birth centers have been taken away without public consult and now private midwives.
The Australian government should be ashamed of the impact this has on birthing healthy future stable generations.
Consult this that work emotionally with women and families and see the impact restricting more gentle birth options has on the population.
Stop listening to media and go straight to the people involved before making such impacting decisions

Giving birth is not a medical procedure if there are no complications people should be allowed to have their child where they choose with a little help. It has been done for centuries. So give the midwifes their insurance to be able to do their job.

Giving birth is the most natural thing in the world. Not a medical procedure. A woman should have the freedom of choice to birth in the way she feels and desires. Midwives have been supporting and empowering woman to birth throughout history, and should be able to continue to do so without threat from a fear-based narrow minded system.
Please don't be threatened and fearful of the most nstural thing in the world, birth; and please allow woman to choose to be supported to birth their baby in the way they choose. Women who choose to birth with a midwife are generally very well informed and educated in their decision. Midwives should be protected and able to access insurance as other professions are.,
Thank you in advance for open-minded reasonable response in support of women's choice and natural birth.

Women should be entitled to the choice of where they birth, and not allowing midwives to attend home births means mothers will be birthing at home without a medically trained person who can recognize an emergency, which will have far worse consequences than the "risk" associated with home births currently.

I intend on doing midwifery after I finish my nursing degree, and I 100% support safe, closely monitored home births, and will fight for the privilege of being a part of someone's personal miracle
