I would like to have a homebirth with my next baby and without this there is no way I would be able to afford it.

The government's attempts to strangle home birth has been by stealth and relentless for 30 years now. Keep it legal, make it affordable and then it will be safe. Drive it further underground and secrecy will become a breeding ground for errors of judgment and unacceptable risk taking.

Home births are a natural and useful (taking pressure off hospitals, especially with all the budget cuts) and are important in people taking steps toward self determination. I support changing the laws to support midwives supporting those who choose home births.

Every woman should be entitled to employ the birth practitioner that best suits her. Be it an Ob for her c/s or a midwife for her hospital or home birth. Our bodies our choice!

Homebirth for normal pregnancies in healthy women is shown to have BETTER outcomes than hospital deliveries. It is not ethical To NOT have this option available

If women chose to birth at home because they are able & it's safe to do so, then they should be able to hire a midwife to support them. Just common sense. Let's be reasonable.

Please don't limit our choices. Independant midwives and home birth are the right choice for many, taking pressure off our strained public hospital system.

As a pregnant lady due in September this year my freedom of choice to deliver my baby where I want, at home has been stripped from me. Pregnancy is not an illness and it should be treated with more dignity and free choice that what it currently is

Women should remain to have the right to choose where they give birth with the comfort and knowledge they have a insured midwife by their side.

First child born at home. Perfect. Second child born in a private room in a private hospital because the then one home birth doctor was on holiday and I didn't know I could have had a home birth with a midwife. Having the experience of both: home birth would have been my choice if I'd had another child. That's the thing: having the choice of a happy, safe, beautiful birth, where you are comfortable.

Important for women to have the choice to give birth where they feel most relaxed & comfortable.

Let's not take women's rights away and push this underground. Let's listen and work with women that want alternative and safe options and provide them with a professional who can assist a positive outcome.

Private midwives are essential for safe homebirth. I had a wonderful homebirth with a private midwife for the birth of my first child. I do not ever see myself giving birth in a hospital setting unless there is a medical reason to do so. Therefore, for me to be able to give birth safely a second time I need a private midwife.

Women have the right to choose how they birth taking away the required PI exemption for midwives is another way of oppressing women.

Maintaining birthing choices for all women and allowing homebirth midwives to practice legally is an essential right for women and families

I truly believe this should be mandatory. It is the womans right to have her child in the best possible environment that SHE feels is right for her child.
