As a former resident of the Springfield area I strongly ask you to listen to the community and do the right thing. A grocery store is an essential part of the community both for nutrition and other basic needs, but also for being a place where neighbors meet and see eachother throughout the week and year. Please stay and reinvest in the community here. You are an important part of the community here!

Please be part of the solution not the problem. Don’t leave impoverished neighborhoods without access to food within walking distance.

In Cincinnati I teach at a school that is in a "food desert." I see firsthand the effects of not having access to fresh, healthy foods. Please reconsider closing the store.

Kroger recently closed the store a few blocks from my house on N. Limestone St. Despite the ugly empty eyesore building I see everyday, at least I have a car so it is possible for me to drive somewhere else to shop. I have a few friends on the South side that do not drive. They can not drive somewhere else, they are too poor to afford a car for legal transportation. You can not convince me that Kroger is not aware of the desperate situation they are creating in this low income neighborhood. It's one of the reasons they put a State liquor store there. I've supported Kroger for decades, an Ohio based company. I'm finished with them. They do not care about Springfield. Their recent actions demonstrate this.

This store is more than JUST a grocery store, but an avid necessity to this community. The people of the community are able to pay bills, complete money orders, and have close accessibility to their grocery needs. The children and families in this community rely on this store because it is in walking distance. Praying that Kroger will reconsider and realize the devastation this will do to people of this community.

The Kroger on S. Limestone is an important part of our community and serves an area that doesn’t have many other options. If you’re really focused on “Fresh for everyone” this is an opportunity to show that commitment.

Closing the Kroger on South Limestone is creating a food acquisition for many residents on the south end. I have some patients who do not have cars. Kroger provided grocery store within walking or bike distance. I can’t believe a large corporation that advertises commitment to the importance of foods for the public is leaving some of Springfield’s residence without any options. It’s a travesty!!
