When COVID started we were all trying to navigate how to survive the shut down and complete collapse of our industry. Mike used his valuable hospitality experience and position in city hall to help save many of our city's restaurants. The patio program is one of the city's greatest achievements for helping small business during the pandemic. While Mikes restaurant benefited so did HUNDREDS of others. Mike has the full support of the Steamworks Restaurant Group.

Without Mike championing the patios I would most likely be out of work and claiming EI. The jobs of 20 staff were saved by us being able to have a patio

Ridiculous, we need this guy, he has been great. Not even one breath should be wasted on this insane accusation.

2020 just showing what people are worth time and time again. Some like Mike go to bat for their neighbours and city whilst the slime of our city does the obvious.

This Temp. Extended Patio was a lifeline for all restaurants, cafes, bars, etc that would have otherwise such down business due to limited seating regulations. Having shares in a restaurant that utilized a program that benefits the entire city not just himself is not wrong. This case should be thrown out. The man was trying to help his city, not be selfish or for his own gain.

The case here should be an embarrassment to the city bureaucracy and the people who brought it forward.

It is through understanding what is needed as a local business person that individuals such as Mike have advocated for the restaurant community - which is the local economy. We would hope that people use their position of understanding to support a sector. We need collaboration, not oppositional polarization at this time.

Thank you for your support of small business. Without these patios we would have closed and our 20 coworkers would be out of work, our landlord would not get rent and we would not be collecting taxes for our government to move forward through these tough times. Without these patios we would not be able to be apart of our community for the next 20 years.

This program was created to help restaurants survive through the pandemic AND it was designed as temporary with fixed time limits to the approvals. When it was put to a vote, it received a unanimous vote of council to move forward. This is not something that just benefited one business so it should not be a conflict of interest.

I do not know MIke, but I believe the patio program has a huge inyection to the economy. A vast number of businesses benefited from this program, which generated revenue for the province. I do not see any abuse of his position, I see support for an entire industry. The fact that he owns a business in the hospitality industry, allows him to understand better the problem and struggles.

Absolutely. All restaurants need outdoor seating and it is only natural that a restauranteur would act on this. And how exactly is it a conflict if it is benefitting everyone? Silly.

This city needs to support this industry and those who are trying to keep it alive. We need broad and sweeping changes to the liquor and permitting laws that are keeping Restaurants from succeeding. Keep pushing Vancouver, we don’t have to stay living in the 50s!

Mike Weibe is a stand up guy. He fought for all other restaurant owners for this initiative. It is for the betterment of our entire industry who employ so many people locally. I own two restaurants and fully support Mike’s efforts and am also very proud that there is a business owner on city council. It brings more diverse viewpoints to the table.
