But people walk about without masks and hold parties. A conflict of interest would be if he was exclusively lobbying to benefit himself only. It is absolutely admirable to try to help save all the industry. Absolute bs.

Mike was elected to represent the needs and ideas of his constituents - that includes food business owners. As a restauranteur himself, he is acutely aware of the needs and ideas of fellow business owners and is simply advocating for them as they navigate through hard times. Perhaps recusing himself on the vote could help address these concerns, but please do not admonish someone for doing his job we elected him to do.

Fully in support of Mike Wiebe on this. Having a Councillor who can relate to and address the needs of local restaurant businesses, suffering so direly during this pandemic, should be encouraged and celebrated, not punished. Thank you Mike for fighting the good fight on behalf of small businesses!

We all benefit from having creative and passionate people - and business people - like Mike in government and in our community. The file in question was and is of broad interest to ALL people who live and do business in Vancouver. And his actions clearly show openness, positivity and good faith. He's doing exactly the job citizens expect of our Councillors in governing this City. The petition against Mike from negative busybodies (if we're being charitable) is against the public interest that the petitioners are supposedly championing. There was no narrow-benefit corrupt action and it's dishonest (again, charitably) to paint it as if there was. Now, onto rolling back the attack on our culture and community traditions that is the (current standing) Halloween fireworks ban. ;)
