Petition ​Regarding the Appointment of the National Librarian/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the National Library of South Africa (NLSA)

There must be relentless resistance to this appointment process there has the politicisation of the Library assistant position at various municipalities as a way for political leaders to reward their political footsoldiers and compromising qualified librarians we cannot allow the apext LIS sector office to be captured by political interests because it will result in the ultimate erosion and decimation of the LIS sector and profession and making the profession futile and obsolete

Librarian must have Librarian qualifications

This will set back the profession that has over the years made strides.

I hope the honourable Board of the NLSA will listen to the LIS profession. I plead with you to take this matter seriously. This is a very reasonable request. As one of the most senior member of the LIS profession, nationally and continentally, I am readily prepared to assist in any manner to resolve this conflict. My voice my power

The National Librarian should be a LIBRARIAN! Standards of the LIS profession should be respected and upheld during the appointment process for a National Librarian!

This is a direct attack to the LIS profession and sign of lack of integrity and so much disrespect to the LIS Community in general

No to hiring of non-librarian

We deserve to be lead with someone qualified in librarianship

It doesn't make sense for a person who has no knowledge in library and information services to lead in that portfolio, is it about power is it political appointment perhaps? I say No! and No means hai to this appointment, it is bringing disgrace to our profession.

Not only the national library of South Africa in all public libraries in SA as most of us have experience such unprofessionalism from unqualified staff while doing practicals there yet here we are unemployed and qualified.
