Petition ​Regarding the Appointment of the National Librarian/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the National Library of South Africa (NLSA)

We need experienced, competent people to provide quality services

Stop undermining the library profession. A diploma and degree in this field is not equivalent to grade 12 certificate.

I support the petition and hope this initiative can be across Information Management Discipline, there individuals without qualifications and experience turn to be appointed unduly where there's much individuals qualified to be appointed into those positions

Is high time that our profession is given the respect it deserves like any other profession

Please do the right thing.

This is a critical appointment and the highest qualifications are compulsory.

There needs to be at least 1 person with Librarian Experience. How then can the National Library be efficient and sustainable.

In order for the department to be recognized as one of those department who are honored in South Africa it will be much better if it's have the Chief executive officer.

Transparency in appointing people to drive a public library should never be a secret affairs. But importantly to ensure we have a library that should never be found wanting people appointed should be knowledgeable with this area of service

Take the LIS sector seriously. It's the backbone of Information Literacy. A skill more critical Now than ever before.

To aid good governace

Transparency should be key with all such appointments

Deskilling the National Library is a crime against the children of South Africa.

I don't agree with hiring people with no qualifications within the information studies

Irregular recruitment process for a national librarian No Lis qualification needed degrading the profession stability in the country
