The National Library is a repository of historical and current information and knowledge for the nation - it should not be downgraded to an 'administrative' role.

Let's set a good example by appointments of professionals in the post. The person will also appoint library professionals in other posts or we risk killing the already threatened profession. Nndaa!

I am appalled that the Board should contemplate appointing a non-librarian which makes it clear that this Board has no respect for professionalism or the essential services provided by public libraries.
