All respect must be accorded to librarianship. The library is the only institution librarians are proud of and so should not be bastardized by appointing a non librarian to be at the helm of affairs. Doing that is same as assigning a banker to head a hospital. Please have a second look.

I fully agree with the demands and I stand firm as a qualified librarian that what the National Library is trying to do is pure disrespect considering its position to LIS. If the NLSA doesn't give a proper response as librarians we should flood the street of Pretoria, we can't be undermined is this manner especially by the mother board. #Vapenga lava.

The NLSA is the statutory body for the LIS profession therefore senior LIS professionals with suitable qualifications and meaningful LIS practice must be first priority for governance and leadership positions.
