our national leaders must acknowledge the LIS profession as a catalyst for development and treat us with likewise. A non-librarian is not an option

Employing or shortlisting non-qualified individuals undermines the integrity of the profession and devalues the expertise of those who are properly trained.

It is important to put square pegs in square holes.

A non librarian can not head a library no matter the status just as no librarian can be appointed acting head of a medical facility or appointed Director of Engineering outfit. Let common sense prevail

The National Library of South Africa is no longer serving its purpose, no longer in the right direction and it's no longer advocating for LIS professionals because the board always hire non librarians for the position. The are thousands of LIS unemployed graduate on the streets who currently start to think that this profession is waste of time and useless because their national Library abondoned it's mission and vision.

Enough is enough, we cannot be unemployed while our positions are taken by unqualified personnel, who lack the passion really is discouraging to go further studies in the field of LIS.
