Petition to Pope Francis to Test the Shroud of Turin

Let's go, get this baby tested.

It’s time to do further testing. We have significant changes and upgrades in technology since the last serious investigation took place.

We, desperately, need to have additional tests done to rectify the C-14 testing debacle in 1988. A review of all of the other scientific tests done on the Holy Shroud show, beyond a reasonable doubt, that the Shroud of Turin not only evidences the miracle of the Resurrection, but that it is, itself, lasting physical evidence on earth of the supernatural. The scientific evidence backing up the Shroud’s authenticity fortifies those who, already, believe in the Christian God. However, the Holy Shroud of Turin has the power to make believers out of skeptics. With all due respect, it is a mistake to not allow science to do what it does best—correct itself. Please, please, permit additional testing on the Shroud. An untold number of souls depend on it to be saved.

The Holy Shroud is undeniable scientific proof for skeptics and unbelievers. Please finalize it so that many will be brought to salvation.

I respectfully suggest that the Roman Catholic Church owes it to humanity to allow the tests on the Shroud requested in this petition. Please consider it carefully and allow the tests. Surely, it is within the evangelizing mission of the Church to explore avenues that may promote hope in the Resurrection.

There's no doubt to me that the Shroud is Holly. It's real. But for many the proof it's never enough. So I agree with more cientific testing.

The only sign the world will be given is the sign of Jonah. Test the shroud at the atomic and molecular level so we may have "convincing proofs" of the resurrection of Jesus Christ so the world will have it's "sign".
