Petition Opposing the Oakwood Lane Subdivision Development

I do not support this.

As a homeowner on Valley Forge Mountain, I am concerned about the impact this proposal would have on open space and wildlife. Additionally, traffic congestion on narrow, sloped roads that were not meant to handle it is a significant concern.

Zoning rules exist for a reason! There is no meaningful reason to make an exception for this development...the only motivation is greed.

The proposed development is way too big for the area.

A subdivision this size would be a massive disruption to the entire Valley Forge Mountain community. Please consider the neighbors.

This particular development would ruin the Mystique of valley Forge. Increase traffic and danger to my of age driving children. And would certainly devalue our properties

Jug Hollow Road cannot safely handle all the additional traffic this development would bring. Additionally, the sacrificing of open land is very concerning and cannot be remedied. Property values and lifestyle of current residents would be greatly diminished if this development is permitted.

Really hope to preserve the land for the wildlife around.

As a resident facing Oakwood lane the lack of infrastructure dealing with storm run off is a significant issue and still unsolved for the current residents. Run off from Paul leman into neighbors yards has already caused significant erosion and cost residents significant expense on fern woods lane and Paul Lehman and Oakwood lane. Their is a dry creek on the north side of oakwood lane that carries much of the runoff from valley forge mountain. The development looks like that area will be developed and there will be no place for the water to go or be absorbed. Currently the area has a minimum of 1 acre per home and many lots have more than one acre so this is completely not in character for this wooded area which is mostly built on slopes. Plus this is zoned as low density. Oakwood lane is a narrow two lane road with only one line since that is all that fits. There is no shoulder, no sidewalk. The only entry to the development is Oakwood lane which is a low traffic road. We already have difficulty exiting driveways due to low visibility due to sharp curves, hills and foliage blocking sight lines. There have been accidents on Oakwood lane due to cars going way above the 25 mile limit and hitting cars exiting driveways to Oakwood lane. We have no sewer lines on my part of oakwood lane which is close to this development and there have already been issues with run off to the schyulkil river from the EPA.

This would greatly impact safety of the area and protection of undeveloped land that is greatly needed to support the environment, wild life, and general aesthetic, character, and rurality of Valley Forge Mountain.

The immediate road infrastructure is already under the stress of a community that has grown over the years without any improvements to handle traffic flow. The nature of the geography of Valley Forge prohibits any road improvements. Residents already have problems entering Oakwood lane from their driveways and adjoining roads. Additional homes will make this problem not only worse, but very dangerous.

I oppose the construction

The storm water alone would destroy the beautiful historic homes at the bottom of Jug Hollow.

I strongly oppose any exception being made to the zoning rules which changes the permissible density requirements. Those rules were adopted to protect the character of neighborhoods such as ours for the benefit of the homeowners. The zoning change being sought benefits only the developers.
