I met Kate on the 2014 deployment to gtmo when she volunteered to go with my unit. We became friends and went to the gym on several occasions down there. I attended her funeral as a uniformed police officer from a jurisdiction 5 hours away. Kate's memory deserves better and her killer deserves more than the 7 years he was sentenced. As a cop killer he should consider himself lucky he didn't get more and there should be absolute no reason to justify his being considered for early release. I'm so sorry for your loss Aimee, keep fighting and don't lose hope.

As a law enforcement officer he knew proper gun safety procedures and willingly disregarded them resulting in a fellow law enforcement officer’s death. He should have to serve his entire sentence. This was not an accident, it was deliberate negligence.

Please do not let this man out of jail any sooner than his sentence. Regardless of the circumstances, he was a trained police officer. He made a decision that ended a life. He should be serving longer than 7 years but at the very least the time he was sentenced to.
