The undersigned
supports industry located near the Port of Mobile, such as AUSTAL, AIRBUS, and
APM Terminals Mobile (i.e. the new container terminal) and will continue to
support new industry to Port of Mobile so long as said industry is in harmony
with the orderly and appropriate development of the neighboring residential and
business communities.
The presence and
accumulation of wind-borne “coal dust” originating from existing coal handling
facilities is a significant problem for residences and businesses located near
the Port of Mobile. New industry that
contributes to the presence and accumulation of wind-borne “coal dust”
is, in the undersigned’s opinion, not in harmony with the orderly and
appropriate development of the neighboring residential and business
communities.
I am extremely
concerned that the addition of the “Blue Creek Coal Terminal” to the Port of
Mobile will exacerbate the problems associated with wind-borne “coal dust”
further impacting residences and businesses located near the Port of Mobile.
Therefore, I am opposed to the “Blue Creek Coal
Terminal.”
My home was painted in the fall of 2013 is now covered in coal dust and needs to be powerwashed. That's bad, but the health of my family is more of a concern.
