I think what is wrong with this Country is we need to get back to the basic... teaching is the most important thing you can give a child.

Governor, Please do your research and oppose Common Core. My grandchildren age 14 bring home from Honors English class at ECHHS supplemental reading materials that are blatant propaganda. Have you read the language arts supplemental texts? Please HELP!!!

Gov. McCrory,
I worked for you and Republicans in this state in the 2012 elections. However, this is a critical issue and must not stand that we have CCS in this state. BOTH experts - in language arts and math - did NOT sign off on CCS as rigorous standards. Too much federal input is federal control

Governor McCrory, Do not listen to the lies being propagated by the NC Chamber people. North Carolina, Like Oklahoma, Indiana and South Carolina can do much better than Common Core. We must remove all aspects of Common Core from NC and replace it with the highest standards we can develop in order to provide the very best opportunity for our children. We should be striving for the top honors not the least common denominator.

There are stories from all over the country of children being so frustrated by struggling with this material that they are crying in the classroom. Education should be controlled locally - this federal overreach must be called to account, and NOW.

After seeing how the federal government has been operating lately it deeply concerns me that they will have a major role in deciding what and how subjects are taught in our school system. Please turn that power back over to the state and local governments of North Carolina.
I believe that government closest to the people knows what is best for people. A bloated federal government does not have the people's best interest at heart, in my opinion. We all understand that we need rigorous standards but I just don't think that Common Core is the answer.
I also believe we cannot afford Common Core, but not in the way of finances, our children cannot afford this experiment.

I'm disappointed in the NC Committee on Common Core a very weak bill to push back on Common Core. Just pass a bill like SC OK and get out of it all together.

My husband is a teacher and this year was surprised when he went through his curriculum and compared the tests that the information that he would be teaching through the year was not even on the tests! What is wrong with this picture? This is only one example of many and he must teach the curriculum. How does a student pass the test? Does this not appear to be a waste of time for both the teacher and student? There is also much more petty paperwork involved that there is less time with the students. Paperwork does not make a good teacher. It takes time away from the student.

ComCor is obviously more of the same government control of the minds of the nation's children. Nothing new. The UN and the Feds are geniuses at propaganda that will destroy the tried and true values that made us as a nation great. I say NO to ComCor and any top down education program because they are all unconstitutional and different in name only.

We do not need more Federal Government in anything in our lives, especially education. In fact, we should return education to the states and do away with the Dept of Education in Washington. Please work to not have common core in NC

This is already costing too much money. More money to the education dept will NOT help the children. Look at the how much has been given in the past 10 years and have we gotten better results? No I don't think that throwing more money at this is the answer. We all want the children of North Carolina to have the best EDUCATION and Common Core is NOT it. Please sign the bills to repeal and replace CC in NC, it is the children we want to be successful is it not? That is the right thing to do.

When people see the problems with Common Core they will agree its flaws and never tested is reason enough to develop an education standard to meet NC students needs, not those imposed by a faceless and unaccountable consortium.
