There is nothing in the US Constitution or the NC Constitution that gives the Federal Government the right to control and dictate the education of our children. Organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce have NO business pushing this agenda. They have been lied to that it will produce better and more educated employees. Many more teachers (I am a former teacher) despise CC than like it as it is detrimental to the children we are entrusted with. But, teachers are not allowed to criticize it. So much for free speech.

N.C. is my home state. My family lives there. I care about what happens in my home state. It is time for ObamaCore to go. At this time I'm sad to say we have not been able to get rid of the evil thing in Alabama. We will not give up and will continue our fight. Hope you will follow the smart people in S.C. and Oklahoma and kick Common Core out of the State of N.C.

Common core is just federal indoctrination. Does this remind you of Germany in 1938?

Governor McCrory, I think you are getting bad advice on Common Core and you should fire that person(s). We pay the NC State Board of Education and DPI a great deal of money, and if they can't develop the best education standards in the USA they should all be replaced with competent people worty of their salaries.

The Federal Government is only to protect the citizens of the USA not take over State Rights. Why do you want to hand over educating the children of North Carolina to the Federal government? You of all people should know State Rights come before the Federal Government

Education standards isn't an enumerated power of the federal government. It belongs in the hands of local communities, not bureaucrats.

Dear Pat McCrory, I am writing as a parent of three children in North Carolina public schools, a volunteer who helped with your campaign to get you elected, a longtime volunteer in the classrooms, a taxpayer, a super voter and most importantly, a Mom. I am very active in the Republican Party and we all feel very disenfranchised and betrayed by you as well as the teachers, educators and most importantly our powerless children. It's bad enough that you are betraying your base, your oath of office to do what's best for North Carolina, to uphold the Constitution, and to represent your constituents of North Carolina, but worst of all you are selling out our children. Based on the public statements you have made ridiculing the parents and the legislators who are representing their constituents by working tirelessly to repealing common core for no other reason than to protect our children from this nightmare, you are clearly listening to the wrong people for advice if you could possibly think that common core is a positive thing for North Carolina's education. Your two education advisors/aides who have a conflict of interest in their support of common core, (you're aware if what I'm referencing). Instead of selling our children out for money and to big, greedy corporations and the chamber of commerce who are selfishly out for their own financial interests on the backs of our children's education, listen to those around you who actually care about the children like your Lt. Governor Dan Forest, and the leadership in your own party, or have taken the time to investigate and research common core and the impact it has had on North Carolina public schools and the children. I would suggest shadowing an elementary school child for a couple weeks, his homework, etc.. and decide if you still think common core is so great! For each year the children are in common core, they are falling further and further behind and missing all the basic skills that they need for a solid

Please join the states who are opting out of Common Core. Think back to when you were in school.....what they teach now is all directed toward passing government standardized tests. Would you want this for your children?
