I tought my daughter sign language when she was a baby. She had a babysitter who knew sign language and was ecstatic when my daughter tried to communicate with her in ASl. I volunteer in the exceptional education classes in Henrico county and have also experienced joy when I can understand what these kids are trying to communicate. I only know basic ASL which I believe we should all know and should be offered at W&M

What a great way to create a more inclusive campus while enhancing academic knowledge and skills. I looked for ASL classes when I first came to campus but sadly found none. I support this!

Since my first day at William and Mary I have wished sign language classes were offered. By learning sign language, a whole new world could open for me and others. Even if sign language classes don’t get offered before I graduate, I hope future William and Mary students can have the opportunity to learn sign language.

ASL is just like any other language. It helps people communicate and articulate their own culture. Therefore American Sign Language should be an offered class here on campus
