Petition for Upgrading the Commuter Shuttle Bus Program

These huge buses are out of place. I could actually tolerate them on San Francisco MAIN streets, but really, you surely can't believe that they belong on 24th Street, or on 26th Street, just two examples of typical neighborhood streets which are inappropriate for these type of commuter buses? It's hard enough to get through this city. I have to drive. I have a small business that requires daily use of my fuel efficient car. Make this work for all of us, not just the priviledged few who have private buses transporting them to and from work on my city streets. How many people are even in these huge buses? We can't know that, since we can't see through the windows. Did you ask residents how they felt about giant buses on the blocks where they and their children live? Run those buses through Pacific Heights. Can't be done. Too much potential squawking from powerful folks. So many things wrong with these giant vehicles in so many ways. Please revisit.

We urge the exploration and adoption of alternative transport modes, such as the use of smaller, more efficient vehicles and ride-share platforms, the consolidation of bus routes, and the wider dispersal of the traffic presently concentrated on a narrow selection of over-burdened streets.

Room for improvement!

Seeing these buses filling the streets half full of riders is distressing and causing problems in our neighborhoods. Do they contribute to the maintenance of the roads they use or is it a free pass for the sitcom industry.

Too many buses blocking muni buses, and prohibiting safe pedestrian crossings at major intersections throughout SF. Enough is Enough!

Sick sick sick. This is not the answer to less congestion on our streets. This is not a safe situation for the residents and businesses on 24th Street or any other.

I was astonished to see the swarm of tech shuttles the last time a crossed over 24th Street. Now I know why I never go there anymore. It is impossible to get to or through. There are no cars on 24th Street, just swarms of huge shuttle buses. There is no way an emergency vehicle could get anywhere on this street. This is our future unless we stop it now.

The busses are never full and they ar running up and down 24th all day long.. Very disruptive to our lives. If you want to work down south move there or suck it up and take public transportation..

Getting less cars off the road is a great idea but the streets in Noe Valley are starting to show their wear with these BIG buses...which are usually not full...at all.

smaller electric jitney type buses are preferable to the behemoths used by the tech companies.

Keep the big buses in a parking lot. Use smaller vans within the neihborhoods that feed into the buses.

Let's find alternatives to the large buses. They don't fit well on Now Valley neighborhood street.

Those big white buses are a huge impact in our neigborhoods. Among other things the steetd and roads are getting damaged and I'm not sure if the companies that use that model of transportation contribute to the repairs and maintanance of the roads

They should have lots outside of town where the big buses drop commuters who can then ride small electric buses to neighborhoods. And they should allow other commuters to use these small buses.

SFMTA needs to improve 'Public' transportation. Bus stops should be for public busses. Eliminating important much-used Muni bus stops is notimportan. Private Buses driving on our streets have to be held accountable for infractions. Environmental impact should be documented for these often too-large and under full busses on our small streets. Smaller busses during non-peak times should be looked at. And please get UBER under control. A digression, but important. There is no 'driving region' requirement so they come from Sacramento & even LA (not knowing our one-way, bike-laned streets.) Uber 'rewards' them for driving long periods without required rest so they drive sleep-deprived putting pedestrians, cyclists, other drivers & the passengers at risk. This system promotes sleeping or napping in their cars - don't we have enough of a homeless problem and a parking problem in SF? Many of these cars have no license plates, just dealer's plates. And none have any identifying code to report them by. At least you can complain about a specific cabs or busses driving or parking. SFMTA get real. Please!

Smaller vans and ride sharing is the way to go. Our streets and winding hillsides were not meant for those vehicles!

I see how much traffic they cause on busy streets like Castro and Market area.

I agree that these large buses are not appropriate for this level of use within the City. If the City does not do something to control this it will continue to grow & get even more chaotic. The City should either adopt one of the Hub models or the guidelines in this Petition
