While I currently live in Richmond, Blacksburg is my home town that I intend to move back to when I start a family. I will always be able to find a home for myself in Blacksburg, but finding adequate schools seems to be a losing battle as the elementary schools continue to move toward overcrowding due to our population growth. This land should be held as a future development site for a new elementary school.

Blacksburg has a huge need for park space. MCBOS, please sell this land to city so that it can be made into a park. In comparison to the other towns we've lived with similar demographics (State College, PA, and Iowa City, IA), there are very few parks in Blacksburg. These amenities are what attract future residents and forward-looking businesses. Please invest in our future!!

As a young professional settling in Blacksburg, I support retaining this land for recreational and educational purposes as our town grows. This would prioritize smart long term planning over short term gains.

My son attends Harding Avenue at this time and it is extremely crowded! I feel cramped and pushed everytime I go in the building.

This location is used extensively for sports. It does not make sense to sell it for additional housing.

I have addressed this issue before. It would be a shame to lose this property to residential development. It is used year round for numerous activities that benefit adult and children's health and well being.

I use to live in Blacksburg and loved the community and want to see it thrive.

unpopular opinion : this should be developed as residential the town and county could use the tax money.

I live near The old high school. The track and softball and baseball fields are in use most of the year. It is a huge asset to my neighborhood and the town.

I have lived in Blacksburg since 1977 when I came to Virginia Tech as a transfer student from Northern Virginia, which at that time was steadily losing its rural origins. Since then I have witnessed the steadily decline of green space in Blacksburg. I believe it is integral that our town to reserve an area within our town limits that will be attractive to families, students and visitors. I truly do not want my town to lose the small town feeling that it now has. There has been a lot of economic growth in Blacksburg in the last 10 years, we need to balance that economic growth with areas of recreation and relaxation. I want us to preserve our "small town" feeling.

Not everything in town needs to be houses, apartments or empty retail space.

Please complete the common sense and fiscally responsible sale to the Town. This smacks of petty retribution for the old middle school property.

Let's bring our Parks and Rec into the 21 century.

Please reserve this property for recreation and further civic uses in the future.

Please keep this as parks and fields for the children of Blacksburg. The Blacksburg Middle School baseball team plays here and they don't have another field to play on. Removing this as an option hurts our youth sports programs in town.
