As a resident of High Knob since 2004, I have been witness to numerous accidents at the entrance coming from both directions over the years. What must it take for VDOT to come up with a better safety solution?

Please consider the Safety of the entrance to the High Knob Community. Traffic accidents are frequently reported and many residents are extremely concerned for their safety. Thanks for any consideration in this matter.

Moved to High Knob May 2020. I didn't really start driving around here for a while do to the 55 intersection. I've seen way too many accidents and near misses in less than two years of residency. When I tell people where I live, they all have a story about how dangerous this intersection is. This needs to be fixed!

I have seen several accidents and many many more near misses. A dedicated left turn lane would make this intersection so much safer!

I was a victim of this intersection about 10 years ago. I was at a stop heading east bound waiting to turn into High Knob. My family and I were rear ended by someone going 55mph. He totaled his small pick up truck but we were very lucky in our Hummer. It was a miracle no one was hurt!!! A turn lane is way overdue!!

A separate turning lane would really help, along with some type of signal during rush hour traffic. It's posted for 45 mph at the entrance, but people don't slow down.

This is an extremely dangerous intersection. We came very close to getting rear-ended several times. Several years ago a small sports car actually had to take the ditch to avoid rear-ending us. It was a miracle that he didn't hit us or another vehicle or flip his car in the effort. I just hope that Virginia takes corrective action before a deadly crash occurs.

As a resident of High Knob, I fear the left-hand turn into the subdivision. The turn occurs just after a blind hill. It is most dangerous when there is no line of traffic to indicate stopping ahead, coupled with driving distractions, i.e. cell phone use, and exceeding the 45 mph speed limit. School busses make this turn to pick up and drop off students.

This is a must fix safety concern! As a High Knob resident since 2012, traffic & “almost accident” misses have significantly increased as the population has increased - fix this safety oncern before someone loses their life!

I only recently moved to High Knob but have developed the habit of turning on my left turn signal as early as the flashing warning sign out of fear of being rear ended as I slow down for the entrance. There is nowhere for other cars to swerve if they crest the hill and find a car stopped in the lane. There needs to be a dedicated turn lane with an area for cars to go around.

Safety is paramount. Amending this dangerous intersection is a common sense priority for our community. Thank you.

I hate driving on this road for this exact reason. Even though I slow down significantly at the hill, I always know there's a possibility of someone running into the back of me when someone is turning left on High Knob.

This would be beneficial for many, not just the residents of High Knob.

I have lived here for 16 years and have almost been hit and have many friends that have been injured in rear end accidents there.

If VDOT would just add a turn lane, long enough for, say, 2 cars, it would be so much safer!!! They should also do that on 522 at Lake Front Royal, and other places where left turns into communities or commercial establishments (like B&Bs) are needed.
