Petition for Safety Improvements at High Knob Entrance (Route 55 and High Knob Road), Warren County, Virginia

This spot has been a hazard for years! Charter buses won’t even come that way from field trips to drop children off at schools (WCHS, WCMS, and HJB). They travel to the other exit and back track through town to avoid that section of 55. It’s time for a safety change.

There is way too much injury and damage at this intersection

My wife and I use Rt. 55 daily. The intersection with High Knob is extremely dangerous. It needs to be widened with turn lanes.

This is a very dangerous intersection of roads with many accidents. A change needs to come.

I would like to see improvement on the High knob entrance for everyone safety

A turn lane is what is really needed!

This is a dangerous intersection that will only get worse as our population increases. They need to find a way to add a turning lane.

It is unsafe now!

As a High Knob long time resident, I’ve experienced several close calls.

This road needs these changes desperately!

I was in an accident at this intersection last year (2020). My vehicle lost control while braking after coming over the hill at only 35 mph on a cold rainy night. There were a long line of cars that weren’t visible I came over the hill and I had only ten feet before the impact to either brake or swerve into oncoming traffic that could’ve killed someone. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed immediately.

Turning lanes are needed

Loved here two,years, two near misses. Both would’ve killed me.

This is a dangerous intersection.

I have been rear ended at this intersection in 2017. Its well overdue.

The speed limit should NOT be 55 mph. There are too many places where cars can turn and you cannot stop when going 55 mph. Route 340 leaving Front Royal to Bentonville is also equally a very dangerous road. I have almost either gotten hit or almost hit a car when rounding a curve to see a car stopped and attempting to turn. Speed limit needs to be reduced or turn lanes made on 340, also.

Something needs to be done at this entrance. As it is, it is way too dangerous.

A speed limit reduction well ahead of the entrance to High Knob would go a long way to reduce serious accidents.

I visit friends on High Knob frequently. That intersection is very dangerous!

This is a upgrade that is long overdue.
