Petition for Safety Improvements at High Knob Entrance (Route 55 and High Knob Road), Warren County, Virginia

Safety needs to be the prime goal for everyone.

I travel from linden to front royal and worry about the intersection on a regular basis.

We Travel this piece of road frequently! The Rumble Strips didn’t even slow people down since being placed. How many more accidents have to happen before something is done?!?!

I am signing this for the safety of the High Knob residence... It really is time to put their safety coming in and out of their neighborhood into account

Commuter everyday from Front Royal to 66.

For the safety of our community and those traveling through our area, this needs addressed.

Do something

Something needs to be done about this very unsafe entrance to High Knob. I was on a bus with school kids returning from a field trip when we hit the bus stopped in front. Our driver was not speeding but couldn’t stop in time. There needs to be a turn lane.

I lived on High Knob for 22 years. There have been too many accidents at the entrance on highway 55 as people coming from the east are stopped and waiting for oncoming traffic to clear so they can make the left turn into High Knob. Please don’t wait until someone dies in one of these accidents before you finally do the right thing and create a turn lane at this intersection!

Safety improvements needed. Along with more over roads

Absolutely necessary. Long overdue. Safety of everyone is imperative.

55 at High Knob Road is a death trap. Too many accidents there, especially coming over the hill and trying to turn in to High Knob.

Very dangerous intersection

Have almost had a couple accidents myself here. Definitely a dangerous corner. Anything that could be done to help, would be great.

I signal well in advance of my left turn into my home in High Knob. Still, those coming over the hill at 50-60mph struggle to stop without a rear end collision into my vehicle. Please make these safety improvements.

This intersection is very dangerous due to the increased number of people and the resulting rush hour backups that happen on Rt. 55. People cannot see past the crest on the hill and may not see the stopped backed up traffic at this intersection until it is too late and they rear end the cars in front of them at high speeds.

Many close calls in my vehicle, and on my motorcycle nearly rear ended there and have seen other motorcycle accidents as well. We need to move forward with this.

Definitely is needed.
