I recently talked to several members from the Purpose Society while they were conducting something called a "Peer Meetup" with the homeless, poor and marginalized.
I was left with the impression that the Purpose Society are leaders in the non profit/charity sector.
This organization keeps an ear to the ground. If they create a petition for much needed resources, all should listen.

As a resident of the downtown core, mother of two young children, and volunteer gardener for our building, I have been dismayed to see our doorway and gardens used as a washroom. Not only is it disgusting for us residents, but it is humiliating for those homeless individuals who do not have access to public washrooms.

Public washrooms are also necessary for visitors, especially the elderly and children.

Availability and access to facilities is necessary to uphold human dignity. It seems to me that lack of facilities in all Canadian cities is a breach of the Charter, particularly affecting the elderly/pregnant/ill/disabled and their "security of person" rights. Accessible and clean public toilets must be legislated a priority of public infrastructure, as much as clean drinking water.

This is a must have for the neighbourhood I live in. The homeless people and skytrain riders are constantly using our lane way as a washroom near the New West skytrain station.

More washrooms, yes. I have been around The Royal City, especially parks, and I have to go to the bathroom and there is nowhere to go. I’ve had to relieve myself by going outside wherever I happen to be.

Added to the problem, I think, is that there are no public restroom facilities at the New Westminster and other SkyTrain stations. This has been a problem for me on some occasions. Adequate facilities would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
