Petition for Parking at the Jennie Dean Park

The AFAC clients and volunteers need someplace to park. AFAC is a very worthy cause.

Please reconsider with the needs of AFAC clients and volunteers in mind. Thank you!

During gardening season I often have large donations of fresh vegetables to drop off. It is often difficult, and sometimes impossible to park so I can drop off the items. Less parking, and more hazardous streets will endanger clients, and deter volunteers and donation drop-off. Thank you.

AFAC is a critical support organization for familines in need. The ask for parking is small and non-monetary. It's an easy way to ensure struggling families get the nutrition they need. Given the current anti-immigrant climate, this reinforces the immigrant community's belief that the government is their to hurt them, not help them. Let's simply do the right thing here.

There must be a solution that benefits all. Please find it.

Parking is tight enough at that location without taking more away!

Free parking is essential for both clients picking up needed groceries and the many volunteers who work the warehouse and distribution sessions.

Parking is hard enough now. The county should not do away with any on street parking.

Please don't take away the Jennie dean parking lot and street parking on 27th St S! There are so many hungry people who need that access to receive much needed food. I've been there, and I've seen how this works. There's too little parking as it is!

Adequate parking needs to be a priority.

So unnecessary. AFAC provides something valuable and really irreplaceable to the community. We should be making it easier for the families who need their assistance -- not harder.

Arlington needs to start prioritizing it's citizens and the organizations that perform a community service to all. As the neighborhood changes making transportation difficult for working class and low income people remains a shameful failing of our local officials. It is vital that you recognize the need for families to easily access AFAC affordably.

Taking a lot that is used by AFAC clients at less busy times for the park and essentially snatching it away for the (realistically) exclusive use of park users even when none are expected is heartless design. Unsafe congestion and vehicle idling on Nelson will result as clients who are elderly, have small children or who have physical limitations seek to get their food to vehicles in a manageable way. Please design this park with the needs of the surrounding area in mind. It doesn't exist in a bubble.

Very upsetting that now Arlington County wants to further restrict parking (bad enough that meters were put on S. Nelson) that affects AFAC clientele as others in and around Shirlington who come there for playground and dog park.

The parking at Jennie Dean park is a must in that over crowded area. Keep our children safe

AFAC does great work and serves the needs of those less fortunate in Arlington.

Please keep volunteerism alive in Arlington. AFAC needs parking to keep Arlington a better community. We also need a diverse community. Let’s not loose the stratification in Arlington. Thanks.
