Petition for Parking at the Jennie Dean Park

As a driver with a disability, I rely on the parking currently available to be able to reliably help out at AFAC. You must not deny Arlington residents their rights to support needed programs removing thier ability to show up.

Keep the parking for the dog park.. Playground and AFAC!

The unavailability of parking by the park will adversely affect my ability (and my husband's) to help AFAC food distribution efforts.

AFAC serves those who need help putting food on their table. Asking them to struggle to find parking and then pay for it will add to their burdens. Please don't make this more difficult for these families.

Ensure access to AFAC services and volunteers!!

It's really important to have this parking, both for clients and for volunteers/staff. I'm a longtime volunteer with AFAC through the NOVA Catholic Community and I've seen serious parking shortages over the years. Don't make it worse.

My son and I volunteered at AFAC, parking nearby made a difference when we bagged chicken in the evenings.

I'm a contributor to AFAC through the Plot Against Hunger Program and can speak to the already tight parking situation by AFAC. AFAC helps fellow Arlingtonians and families with a basic need through their food assistance. Taking away parking will greatly impact AFAC's ability to provide it's services to its clients. Please ensure that there is adequate, safe, and accessible parking for AFAC clients, employees, and volunteers.

As a volunteer for AFAC, parking is always an issue in this area. Removal of any parking will negatively impact both clients and volunteers.

Please emphasize helping people who are dealing with basic nutrition for well being over recreational pursuits. The latter are of course important, but not as valueable as feeding a family.

It's imperative that we don't remove access for and to the needs of those in need.

Without adequate parking, AFAC will not be able to serve the community. This is a critical service, and should be prioritized.

Did the County forget that they have neighbors nearby who have used the Jennie Dean parking lot for decades? Good design means being mindful of existing conditions and designing for people.

Please keep parking available for AFAC clients and volunteers. There is no need to make things any more difficult for them.

I am opposed to Arlington County taking away parking spaces in this area as they are used by many residents involved in some way with AFAC.

I have the distinct pleasure of living and working in Arlington County, and struggle on a daily basis with parking in front of my own home, and at work...this has to stop, and community members (also people utilizing community services such as AFAC) should be given access to park close to any specific destination they require. I am an Arlington County tax payer, and realize more than most how important it is for Arlington County to create accessible, safe parking options for its businesses, and residents/the people who keep this county running!

I regularly volunteer for AFAC and always park in the Jennie Dean Park lot. There is always a high demand for parking in that area. Workers and clients alike really need continued access to the nearby parking options that are there now, as these are not even enough! We certainly can’t afford to lose those.

We appreciate the priority and importance of community parks. Food insecurity in the community is a vital priority and AFAC's large role in food distribution at this main location and throughout the city requires several staff and volunteers. AFAC clients are THE priority. These low income households including elderly, people with disabilities, and parents with young children need appropriate parking spaces to access food. AFAC staff and volunteers need parking spaces to distribute food and plan distributions.
