Charging students to pay a fee to stay on a campus they already pay thousands of dollars to attend is ridiculous. It is clear that this university is succumbing to capitalistic wants, over the general wellbeing of its students. Choosing the money of people has been shown time and time again to end in nothing but revolution. Oswego should take this as a warning and quickly change its policies to ensure that international students get the rights they deserve.

The international students have paid a ton to live here in the dorms, going home is not a viable option for them so the college is taking advantage of adolescence in a tough spot, this is extremely unjust.

The international students already had to pay more just to go here. The school doesn't need more money if they didn't pay for Thanksgiving break. Don't bleed money from students that are already struggling just to come to this university from a different country.

Then to force them to pay an extra amount for the break when they already were allowed to stay for Thanksgiving break is obscene. Additionally, shouldn't room and board cover that one week, especially considering the costs traveling back home would cost them.

If the campus hopes to uphold the values that it loves to endlessly promote online and in it's job postings, I would hope that this decision would be reverted. This policy is simply greedy and targeting an already vulnerable population in Oswego. These students have already given so much to be at your university, at least show them the respect to not oust them from their homes (which they already pay plenty for).

It does not make sense that we need to pay for Spring Break if we are already paying for the "Full semester of housing" why do we need to pay for this week if it is during the semester we already pay?

This is absolutely ridiculous. Not only is it extremely expensive for international students to go home, but the fact that residence life expects for them to spend two days (most likely more) traveling to only be home for two or three days? This causes unnecessary stress for international students as when you are traveling, you can't relax. All is does is mentally and physically drain those students. And after traveling for such a long period of time and being able to relax, they have to come right back to school without time to adjust, throwing them into a bunch of school work while they are physically and mentally exhausted from constantly being on the move for a whole week.

ResLife and Housing have shown their dislike for students in many ways, this is one of them. They have already shown a disservice to their international students of direct support by eliminating the support of graduate assistants in Hart Hall. To say that they support all students on campus equally is a lie, the least they could do is look out for their students who already pay so much to contribute themselves as scholars of this school. Oswego should feel ashamed.

SUNY Oswego is a home for many of us because of the tight-knit student body and community. I’m not an international student but I understand how difficult it is being far from home and being very financially unstable. This fee can cripple the health and well-being of many of my peers who have no other choice but to stay and consequently collect fees that they should not be subjected to.
