Concerns have been raised about a lack of communication with families, high turnover among administrators, insufficient mental health services, and gaps in school safety plans. Additionally, the handling of recent school closures has been widely criticized.
Crystal Calhoun of the San Jose Unified Equity Coalition has also stated that SJUSD fosters a hostile work environment for employees.
As a result, many San Jose parents are calling for change in leadership within the district, as highlighted in the San José Spotlight article, “San Jose parents want new leadership in largest school district.”
