There are many good reasons for this group to exist within NCA, including the longstanding need for more public discourse about the experiences of veterans and what can be learned from this. I also agree with several others that this group should be inclusive of other protectors (first responders, law enforcement).

I support this petition but think the more inclusive name should be Security Communication as a lot of the research is connected to military contexts but not about the military per se.

As a military spouse and as a member of NCA, having this division will help communication and military scholarship have a specific and impactful home.

Thanks so much for setting this up! Almost went to the military directly from the PhD, but decided to pursue a career with firefighters in Denver, Colorado for the first post-PhD job. Will be leading firefighter recruitment, testing, promotion, and discipline there.

Yes, much needed! I find myself doing more work on military issues but have a hard time finding a home for the work. Would be wonderful to cultivate more outlets for this topic.

This is a much needed division for our association. You have my full support. Seeing this encourages me to continue with plans for scholarship focused on military personnel and veterans' (and their family members') experiences.
