Petition for masks optional in the WFB School District

Define “valid”? If the intent is to gauge the temperature of a community it is sufficient and has captured a good sample. This is not a legally binding document but an indicator of direction and velocity which is one basis for qualitative research. I find this survey to be valuable.

It appears to me that a few are trying to silence opposition and delegitimize the findings of this survey by planting provocative comments. Thus trying to eradicate the summation of the vocal majority. This is an ugly tactic used in desperation to silence a group.

Children should not be made or told they must wear a mask. I think it does more harm for a child to wear a mask. to wear a mask.

Covid is over. Time to move on

Not only is someone impersonating Dr. Bencik-Boudreau with this comment, they are using her name to spew hate. This petition has gone off the rails. There is no way to verify signatures - as anyone can sign using anyone's name - and some signatures are identifiably false (i.e., Ted Cruz and Anita Ventilator).

I follow science, aren't we still following science anymore?

COVID incidents in the school district seemed low even during the worst of outbreak. This vaccination rate in WFB is unbelievably high. Children often need to see teachers speak and enunciate words for effective learning. In addition, many children he complained that it is harder to breath indoors wearing a mask, especially during hot weather.

We think that while the vaccines are still under investigation, administered only in the emergency use category, without actual FDA approval, many parents have valid concerns as to their safety and efficacy. They choose to wait until all the data is in, as in the vaccines for other diseases, like polio and measles. We are not “antivax”. This disease is thankfully low risk to healthy children, thus the risk/benefit ratio is not sufficient for universal vaccination of our most precious citizens. Masks should not be mandatory for the children whose parents decide to wait. It exposes them to bullying and abuse. Everybody understands this. It is sadly shocking that any teacher, or any adult whose career is related to the welfare of children, would countenance this open invitation to abuse. Please make the donning of masks a voluntary option. Much further research and data will determine the best course for all. Mindless conformity and coercion in medicine is never in anyone’s best interest.

Our kids are double vaccinated

The risk of a WFB high school student getting Covid is very minimal, the risk of an unvaccinated WFB high school student being bullied and harassed is close to 100%. Why are our schools making the kids wear their vaccination status on their faces?  With such high community vaccination rate and low cases, the mask mandate for unvaccinated teens in not necessary. We don't know all the reasons why one is or not vaccinated, but we have to protect them from being bullied and harassed. Please consider making the mask policy in the context of our community vaccination and infection numbers. These numbers are in much support of mask optional learning environment.   

The data speaks for itself. If you truly want to follow science, this is the way to support it. Unmask the kids. Family choice.
