If there is more severe punishment for cheating on exams, downloading material using the school's WIFI, not writing up a permit for an event etc., compared to sexual assault: then rationally speaking, I'm confused and at a loss of words. I want to know that all my friends on this campus share the equal privelage and right to exist and thriveo n campus without the fear of being suxually assaulted. For that to happen, let us carefully and intelligently reform the sexual assault legislation currently in effect. The safety of the survivor comes first: all else is second priority.

Rapists are often repeat offenders so having them return to campus is a liability for the safety of future students-- not to mention a huge psychic toll on their victims. Lawrence alum.

Sexual assault/harassment is against the law. Giving 2nd chances in such circumstances is absolutely unacceptable. If these aren't terms for expulsion, then what is? I have invested too much into Lawrence to deal with this problem. Do something!

Sexual assault has been a huge issue since I was a freshman at Lawrence back in 2010-2011. It has not gotten the attention it needs, and when my ex-roommate got suspended for only 1 term after sexually assaulting multiple people over a year and a half period, it does not seem that Lawrence is delivering the appropriate punishments for a crime that is not only incredibly illegal, but psychologically harmful to those who must encounter their assailant on a daily basis. I hope that the school will finally start to listen to those who have been assaulted as well as their allies who support them in bringing about change on the Lawrence University campus. Lawrence is a small school that boasts a tight-knit and supportive community. Along with that support should include a no-tolerance/expulsion policy in regards to henious crimes committed by students, such as sexual assault. I know that the current policies in place are either not being strongly implemented or are not working. This needs to change and change quickly. I hope Lawrence will be proactive and listen to the students/alumni/faculty/staff who know that this is a problem at Lawrence. Change needs to start somewhere. Your move Lawrence.

As an proud alum, it is very important to me that LU enact this policy. Does the administration really want rapists on our campus? Come on!

The last thing a victim needs is their perpetrator to be released back into the same pool they're swimming in.

Suspension should be used during the investigation and trial of cases in which multiple complaints have been made against the accused.
