An endocrinologist put me on 2,000 I.U. a day a couple of years ago and it made a huge change. But every time I go to a "regular" doctor, they get all antsy that this is too much because "everyone" knows that 2,000 I.U. a day is just about over the "approved" levels.

98% of Canadians are Vit D deficient leading to many health related problems. Drops are superior to the tablet form but the strength needs to be increased to get the optimum dosing. 400 IU and 1000 IU just doesn't give us enough daily dosing of Vit D.
