I have always been a believer in larger doses of Vitamin D. I take 8,000 to 10,000 IU a day as maintenance and if I feel a cold coming on I increase to 15,000 IU a day for 2 days and completely blow away the cold. I have not had a cold this winter; I felt a nasty one coming on for one day and completely shut it down with the increased dose. By the way, I have my blood read several times a year by an MD who practices PREVENTATIVE MEDICINE, not symptom alleviating medicine.

This winter I was taking 2000-5000 IU of D3 daily. First winter in my life I didn't suffer from SAD. Didn't have that "Winter" feeling at all. Vitamin D3 has changed my life!

Too many kids play inside these days and don't even get the little bit of sunshine we get during the day!

I so agree. Midwives are not even allowed to test for these levels anymore because it costs too much... yet i was told by a clinician that over 88% of her client popluation were low!!
