This is just gross. Not just for the students to see but for the fish that swim in the tank. They are swimming in filth. The school needs to do something about this. If they can't keep the tank clean then they don't need one.

I was a sophomore when we moved into the new high school. I remember how everyone was constantly harping on keeping the new building clean and nice. It's a surprise and a disappointment to see Hartselle High neglect their students amd their investment like this, notwithstanding the blatant animal cruelty.

Checking in from the UK to say this is a disgusting message for an educational establishment to send.

This is disgusting! It's basically animal abuse. I thought Decatur high was bad and disgusting but this is animal abuse! Don't get a fish if you're gonna let it rot and die and not even care for it!!

Hartselle is one of the "best" school systems in Alabama. I know they teach biology, from basic to AP. If the school board won't hire someone to clean it on a regular basis why not pay for someone to come in and clean it thoroughly then turn it over to the science department to study and clean the tank?

Is this the way the school wants to teach children to care for their environment? Rather than making this a disgrace, why not let it be a learning lesson and get the kids and teachers involved?

This is a pathetic mistreatment of the animals, a neglect of living beings, and all around repulsive. It is not acceptable to leave dead fish or that degree of algae in there. It is clearly harming the fish.

FISHIES ARE ANIMALS TOO and this is SERIOUS abuse and neglect. there's no reason to have such a large tank and have zero faculty or students helping to keep it clean and safe for the poor fish. this is really embarrassing for a school to do, being disgusting role models as well. i've had a friend complain about this tank for MONTHS and even brought it to the schools attention and they did nothing.

What this shows is that neglect is acceptable both now and in the real world, were neglect will truly get you nowhere. Is that really what you wish to teach the generations that will fuel our future? And besides, the fish that may actually be living are still living creatures.

The school should be ashamed of this kind of neglect.
