I think having this email address looks more professional. I want to be able to keep it.

Please do not take away our email address! I provided my email address to several physicians who are willing to stay in touch and write me a recommendation letter in the future. It will be a huge loss if they are not able to reach me due to this email change.

Please don't do this, it would be a major hassle in an already stressful part of the year

Changing students emails in the middle of the match process is completely unprofessional and inappropriate.

I worked hard for my email address, you shouldn't be able to take it away so easily.

Signing this on behalf of my significant other, and future residency applicant. My mother works for another health system, and her @school.med.edu email address identifies her as a professional member of that institution. I believe it is the same for medical students. Professional identities begin early, and while it may seem small, an email address is an important part of that. It gives students a database of connections to network with, and it lets prospective residency positions know that they are serious students from a well-known program.

It is imperative that medical students have an email address that identifies us as not simply affiliated with the university but school of medicine. This is a standard of practice in our profession and removing the med.wayne.edu emails would be a disadvantage to Wayne State medical students especially during networking opportunities and residency applications. Thank you for your consideration and allowing us to continue representing wayne state and the medical excellence of the university.

It's hard enough as it is to display value through email trying to network and make connections. Without the med.wayne email, what is there to separate us from the common student population when we reach out for things such as shadowing or research? There would definite loss from that standpoint. In a lot of instances, it is hard enough as it is just to get noticed at all. This would make it even more difficult.

Being able to communicate with other professionals with a designated med email address that has our first initial and last name (rather than just our access ID) is a huge benefit to us as students for the purposes of shadowing, networking, research opportunities, etc. If we were to lose this identity, we would suffer huge consequences in terms of visibility and identity as medical students in the larger sphere of our professional industry. Please allow us to maintain full access and the ability to send emails from our "@med.wayne.edu" email address.

I am proud to be a part of the Wayne State University School of Medicine. I strongly believe that my email identification and online presence should be reflective of my identity as a medical student at WSUSOM.

This would cause significant issues for me. I rely on my .med email to correspond for various medical school organizations that I am involved in as well as person correspondence with my peers.

My @med.wayne.edu email is of extreme importance to my career. If I lost it I would be extremely upset. Please reconsider these changes.

I have transitioned all of my emailing to my med.wayne email. I could understand if from now on incoming classes do not receive a med email but please do not cut those of us off who are using ours

Having the med.wayne.edu gives us credibility. If I am sending professional emails and signing my name as a medical student, J appreciate that my email address supports it.

Please let us keep our @med.wayne.edu email addresses. They allow others to appreciate our med school identity. Thanks!

A medical student specific email is critical for our professional development as physicians. It immediately grants us credibility and gives us opportunities not open to those with a non med emails.

A part of the identity of being a student at WSUSOM is being a professional. A component of this professionalism is how we interact with others both inside and outside our institution. One of the most common forms of communication is email, and we represent the school of medicine by utilizing a med email address. In addition the use of a med email address allows students to gain more opportunities when contacting our peers for shadowing experiences, externships, etc. An email sent by the access ID often looks like spam if the recipient does not know how the school email system works.

Many of us are already using the email domain professionally - all my contacts in and out of WSUSOM, DMC, HFHS and other outside organizations have solidified this contact. This switch is unprofessional, disruptive and without reason. Please deeply reconsider.

I agree with the previously stated utility when it comes to the professional aspect and comparison to most other medical schools/programs. Also I feel that a one week notice of change (would likely have been none if not for the technology committee) is not very respectful either.
