All paths should be open to ebikes. Many of us are disabled and can’t ride a regular bike or walk. I can’t get around any other way.

I ride my E bike to work, which cuts down on traffic in Irvine. It’s 9 miles each way on the bike path. It would be very dangerous for me to be out on the street with traffic.

It is important the all bike riders are safe wether the bike is electric or not does not change that. All bikes need access to parks and trails.

My wife and I enjoy riding our Pedego bikes together. I have used my Pedego to commute to work and for the enjoyment of the fantastic bike trails in Irvine and the surrounding areas. Being able to ride to the beach, Shady Canyon and the Jefferey Open Space trail has enriched our lives. Please keep these treasures open to us all.

My Pedego bike allows me to be more mobile. I am a senior citizen with leg circulation problems, and my E-Bike is a god send.

As a 70 year old, safely riding on bike trails has been a boon to my health with my ebike. I never go over the posted speed.

My husband has health issues. Riding his ebike allows him to get out and enjoy life. It gives him the mobility to see the beautiful parks and beaches that he used to enjoy when he was younger. It allows us to ride together since the motor equalizes our abilities. The electric bike is better than a car, motorcycle, or wheelchair because it still enables him to pedal and excercise without overdoing it and without pain. If we ride together, we won't wind up stranded due to wind or hills

I have an auto immune health condition - because of Pedego bikes - I can now get out and ride again. Keep all bikes paths accessible to all types of bikes.

I would hate to lose this safe way of enjoying the bike paths and trails. The Ebike is a wonderful way to get healthy and take advantage of Newport Beach.

My partner, Brian, and I discovered electric bikes nearly a decade ago when he collapsed from a blood sugar low while riding a standard pedal bike near the beach. Brian is a lifelong Type I diabetic who must carefully monitor his exercise to ensure a safe and healthy ride. Since that time, I developed painful arthritis in my spine and have difficulty pedaling a regular bike. As citizens of Orange County, we demand equal and fair access to all County parks and facilities. Our electric bikes enable us to lead full and active lives while causing no injury or property damage.
It's time to rethink the old "mountain bike" mindset of having to earn your place on a bike path with sweat and hard work. For some of us, that can be a life-threatening challenge. And it is unfair. Please keep the parks and paths open for responsible use by all, regardless of age, disability, or ability to pedal a standard bike.

As a physician, evidence based medicine points to aerobic exercise as leading a better quality of life as we age. The advent of EBikes has been game changer with respect to the ability of seniors to participate in a open air activity that will pay benefits for years to come. By closing access to the OC bike trails has negative ramifications on so many levels. Many seniors like myself have purchased E Bikes at a cost of 3000-7000 for a pair and we will use them in OC regardless of access to bike trails. That puts us on the streets with traffic, and the possibility of bodily injury increases more than it would if bike paths were open. It disincentives the overall use of the bike to the detriment of our health. Clearly, there needs to be appropriate usage of the EBike on the trails, and rules of the road need to be posted to help ensure safety for all. Without a doubt, restricting access to the OC trail system for EBikes, is the WRONG decision if you care about the health and well being of your senior population.

I frequently ride my Class II Ebike on OC river trails and bike paths. At age 59, the Ebike gives me the opportunity to ride more frequently and for longer distances. In the 2 plus years of riding the bike trails, it has been a very safe experience with no issues whatsoever with pedestrians or other bicycles.

ebikes are a great health tool for seniors. Access to bike trails is a great benefit and keeps us safe by staying off the congested streets. I cant believe that banning class 11 bikes would even be a concern. A lot of high end regular bikes can be peddled at speeds greater than the 20 mph top speed of ebikes.

I love my electric bike. Please allow continued access. Its good for me and the environment! We don't go any faster than the tight pant bikers.

Hello, I've been an avid EBike rider for about 7 years now and ride all the OoC Bike paths and trails and find a huge comfort in not having to be on the main roads to enjoy our biking experience. I have a bad hip and a bad knee so my Pedego Electric Bike has giving me the freedom to continue to enjoy the bike riding experience. Please, lets do what we can to keep these "Very Safe" avenues, paths and bike trails open to all of us.

I am a frequent visitor to OC and every time I come I rent an e-bike and ride your trails. At 60 years old and with bad knees, a class II e-bike is a perfect way for me to continue doing something I love. I hope you will see what a great benefit these bikes are to your residents and your economy and make an informed decision. Thanks you!
