Petition for Class 2 E-Bikes to Have Access to Orange County Bike Paths, Trail & Parks

This is crazy!!!! Spent a lot of money to have the enjoyment of getting out at the of 61 and for for bike rides. We ride them to breakfast, lunch, dinner, Saturday day trips, the list goes on and on. Why is it officials always want to tell us what we can and can’t do!! This is ridiculous

Class 2 ebikes need to have access to all Orange County bike trails.

2/27/2018 To the Orange County Board of Supervisors: I ride my EBike and use the river trails and bike paths a couple times a week. My bike provides me with access to the beach and many other outdoor areas that I wouldn’t have without my EBike. Riding my EBike gives me a way to get away from normal congestion and overall traffic of the Orange County streets and freeways. I’m asking that you please allow access to these paths so I can continue to be active in my community.

I would like the ebikes allowed on the trails with maybe the caveat of having some sort of license that shows some training in skill and most of all etiquette. Single tracks should remain off limits.

Pedego electric bikes saved my life. The introduction of the electric bike has given a fresh breath of life to a otherwise idle and unhealthy group of people. Truly life changing.

Having an ebike has totally opened up my world again after a car accident that has made it impossible for me to exercise more than a few minutes. Having an ebike has allowed me to once again enjoy biking at the beach, and most importantly to be able to once again enjoy rides with my family. Not having access to the bike paths and only being on the dangerous streets would be terrible. Ebikes need to maintain posted restrictions like MPH. They are no more of a burden on bike paths than regular bikes. Knowing that there are purposed restrictions on my newly found freedom is so very upsetting. Please do not restrict ebikes.

Ebikes are just as safe as any other bike. Accidents happen when people, no matter what kind of bike they are riding, do not follow the rules. Laws should be passed against unsafe riding, not against the type of bike being ridden.

Without e-bikes, my wife and I would not be able to do any physical activity together as she is only able to walk slowly due to lifelong health issues.

This will enable people who have difficulty riding an opportunity to ride again, commute to work and reduce vehicle traffic.

Allow Class 2 E Bikes access to bike paths

I ride my Class II EBike and do use the OC river trails and bike paths. My EBike allows me the opportunity to ride my bike longer distances due to my current health issues of a disabled veteran.

I am 55 and live up a very steep hill. If not for my Pedego I wouldn't be able to ride a bike around my home. And, of course, in order to ride my bike, I need access to the trails. Having a bike with a battery is the only way I feel comfortable venturing out. If I fall or get too tired I can always use the battery power to get me back home.

Please do not take this away from us. We need these paths for our safety and fun.

Electric bike do no more harm than a normal bicycle. they are quiet and environment friendly .

Enforce speeding and bad behavior, don't penalize responsible riders.

The throttle-assist on Class 2 bikes is important functionality for many riders (e.g., older riders or those with physical limitations) who need a little extra help just to get an e-bike moving so they can start pedaling with the pedal-assist mode. For example, a rider stopped on a hill can use throttle-assist to help get the bike rolling in a controlled way so they can then start pedaling.

This is a no-brainer! Stop the discrimination!
