Why was it removed? Which people initiated this. Sounds like communism.

So what's next book burning? This is so wrong on so many levels! The parents are the only people that should be able to control what their children read.

The students in high school are young adults and they are old enough and mature enough to read this book. They can't be sheltered from things their whole lives. Just because there is a "vulgar" scene does not mean that there isn't other valuable lessons that can be learned from this book.

We strenuously object to the banning of George Orwell book 1984. Our nation was founded on Free Sppech NOT silenced speech. Our children must be informed and allowed to read and hear speech even if they may disagree with some if it. Limiting information to our students in order to be politically correct does not prepare our youth. Rather it hurts them and hinders their ability to make inform
ed decisions.

This should not be banned because of one parent let that one student do an alternative assignment.

Quit destroying our right to free and open information. If your worried about teens forming a negative opinion on society, then the only legitamate way to spurn this opinion is by doing the right thing for society. PS this society is Orwelian, that is why you are trying to make it to where individuals can't read it.

This was one my favorite books I read in High School in CA! If CA can allow this book, the most regulated of all states, surely Idaho can.

This book has been read by millions of students. I myself have read it and we were educated as a class to its significance and importance. Banning this books in any way is contradicting everything the book is teaching. Students have so much more “filth” available in the media and walking down the hallways. Banning this book isn’t going to change that. Teach the kids rather than hiding the world from them, that is what high school is about.
