I feel bad for the students who have already put in their time and effort for an assignment on a bookthat is now possibly banned. They are told to "start over" ridiculous

We learn from reading and we want to be a society that’s educated and well read, banning books (especially books such as these) is wrong and accommodations can always be met for students who desire it. However, as a student, we do not desire to be held back in our reading, growth and education.

This is ridiculous. And not surprising for schools these days that give no thought to ramifications. All this accomplished was to being more attention to the book. (So we win)!

I think each individual parent should be able to make this choice. This story has great value for discussion and opening our eyes to what a blessing our freedom is. The one section can be omitted or skipped and the story still has value.

Unsure why the concerns of just one parent are able to dictate curriculum at RHS. This book is invaluable and the sooner this is reversed, the better.

I teach this book -- and warn kids of a few scenes that may be objectionable to them and their parents -- but it is completely against all that is at the core of this country to ban a book. This is a book taught on many conservative religious campuses, including our own. BYU Idaho teaches it as part of World Foundations (https://content.byui.edu/file/09e1355b-515e-4051-b050-de3c348ed14e/7/fdwld201syllabus.html). Lets stop banning books and read them together to learn from the past and concerns of the past.

You forced me to read a uncomfortable book where children had their childhoods and innocence stripped from them and were indoctrinated into a program to lead a total genocide. That book taught me many valuable lessons despite the discomfort I felt in reading it, and it is an erroneous judgement to deprive students of younger generations of these opportunities to learn and develop ideas to help them contribute to the growth and progress of our society by removing similar books and sources of media simply because their content is uncomfortable and someone complained about it. You didn't listen to my complaints, and that you would start now is asinine and demonstrates egregious apathy and cowardice as fate as the betterment of our up and coming students are concerned. Shame on you.

If all books with "vulgar" passages are to be removed could I suggest that the Bible is next.
Ez 16:7, 23:18-21
Proverbs 5:19
Genesis 19:35
Etc....
Actually it appears the Bible contains far more than the one "vulgar" passage, perhaps just remove that one book and leave Orwell's far tamer masterpiece on the shelf.

Stop trying to turn America into a communist country where things you read are censored and banned. These are high school students. They have the right to the access of this book. What are you afraid of? Might ask yourself. Or you know.
