Our schools need to not buy in to leftist policies by taking away things that actually teach students. Give them books that are unbiased, as well as some from each side so that they can decide for themselves which one is proper.

To be honest, if the district wants every student in its schools to read 1984, please go ahead and ban it. Don't let the irony regarding the text explores what happens when authoritarian regimes engage in censorship. By all means, ban it and watch a copy somehow end up in every teen's backpack because it is now an act of adolescent rebellion.

Banning books does not change the information from inside them. Trying to restrict the ideas and options others have access to doesn't make them less real. Trying to control what others read and learn is a sign of an oppressive society, all you're doing is proving the major themes of the novel.

The banning of books is ludicrous in a country that celebrates freedom and free speech as core values. This book is an eye-opener to how important it is to be able to research and find the truth about our wold as well as a discourse on how we all need to be politically aware so as to keep our country a safe place to express ourselves and live freely. Banning this book is like implementing the beginning of this story where all writing in its society are censored so the public only knows what those in power want them to know.

It seems to me that more and more we are Taking rights away and more indoctrination is being done not only in our Colleges, but also in our K through 12 schools. We should stick to teaching our kids this country's history, because it is exactly that history.

I am LDS, and I as a psychologist and educator, I absolutely believe in the importance of exposing future generations to the issues were facing and likely to face in the future. Historically, hiding information has never been a good thing.

This book is defining. It is more than just a novel. It is a warning against an unchecked government. Taking this book out of curriculum does these young minds a total disservice.

Do NOT ban the book 1984, removing this book actually ties right in with the story that talks about limiting thoughts, words, and deeds unless acceptable by those in control. In this time, with all the political misinformation, this book helps yo talk about making you think, develop your own opinions. Other books are much worse than this. If it is about some of the sexuality, then ban the bible for some of Solomon's very base descriptions. What are you thinking?
