**UPDATED** Petition Against the Wrongful Firing of Dr. Eric Johnson

Disgraceful. Idiotic. Intellectually bankrupt.

I am a family doctor and Christian missionary. This type of political backlash shows how little we trust one another. And how little we trust the Holy Spirit to lead our brothers and sisters in a journey toward maturity.

I am a pastor of a Southern Baptist Church, and an advocate of Christian Psychology as much as I am of any other type of Christian Medicine.

As a seminary professor for the past 20 years, I am deeply saddened by this blatant violation of academic freedom under the guise of some sort of feigned biblical faithfulness. I am also saddened to think of what this means for the future of Southern Baptist training for pastors and counselors.

This situation is without a doubt one of the most ignorant situations I've come across in a while. He is one of the most educated and most professional names in his field. He is a 10/10, would recommend.

We need his type of study and research.

Please reconsider keeping Dr. Johnson on staff.

Dr Johnson was one of my counseling professors when I attended SBTS. I can honestly say he was one of my favorite professors. Never once did I hear Dr Johnson say an unkind or hateful word about or towards Heath Lambert. I also had the great mispleassure of having Heath Lambert as a professor. I can clearly remember multiple classes where Heath Lambert disparaged and for lack of a better word trashed Dr Johnson. It was incredibly discouraging to have to sit in a Biblical Counseling course listening to Heath Lambert attack Dr Johnson and this happened multiple times. It truly saddens me to hear that Dr Mohler was pressured by someone like Heath Lambert to fire such an amazing professor like Dr Johnson. By removing the ONLY Christian counselor professor I feel that the students at SBTS are losing insightful and extremely helpful knowledge in learning how to best help their clients and their are learning a very biased view on counseling due to Heath Lamberts unjustified hate towards Dr Johnson.

Having been a contributor to work edited by Eric Johnson, I came to know him as a conservative, evangelical psychologist (as well as a really nice person). . . and so am bewildered at this action.

I have personally met with some of the women who have been helped by Eric Johnson. I reason we met was because he was encouraging them to step into a closer walk with Jesus. Though I don't know him personally, I have seen the fruit of his work in the women I have met. Only a man of faith could give these women the courage to press into Jesus for healing.

I stand with Dr. Eric Johnson.

I had Eric Johnson as a professor and he was one of the best professors I had at SBTS. He was deeply faithful to God's Word. He was also profoundly adept at taking the creation gifts God has given us through science and applying them to understanding how to care for the soul in a Biblical way. I had the privilege of sitting under his teaching and my soul was drawn closer to Christ because of it. I pray that this decision is reversed so more students can be blessed by his teaching at SBTS.

I worked with people with developmental disabilities for many decades. When I first began I worked with very fine human beings who were dealing traumatic psychological, physical, and developmental events which lead to their disability. Again these were/are the finest human beings I have ever met. But they dealt with "issues" that went far beyond any type of intervention found in the Bible, I know I read it enough and I begged God enough to try to help find some type of relief. The Bible just does not address these issues. Even Leprosy which is often alluded to in the Sacred Text does not give an adequate answer on how to deal with this disease. We now have very successful "worldly" interventions to help people dealing with Mycobacterium lepromatosis. It seems to me Dr. Johnson was trying to do this with in a Biblical world view but still help people with all the tools available. Why is that Bad? I am so sorry Dr. Johnson this happened.

I am choosing to remain anonymous because I am a current Boyce college student. However, I feel deeply and strongly that this is wrong. It is a dangerous path being laid out currently. I don't see how nouetic counseling is sufficient and it's not because I believe the Bible to be insufficient. I could continue but that's not going to accomplish anything. I'm deeply disturbed by this and am disgusted with Heath Lambert's behavior.
