This is incredibly upsetting, although I'm not in the least surprised by the politics game being played here. I'll just continue my practice of NOT pledging any money or one-time gifts when I get the annual pledge call to alumni.

I am a 2005 graduate of SEBTS and had Dr Johnson for a number of classes. I had such an amazing experience with Dr Johnson in his classes. I always felt heard & cared for. I also remember him pointing us to Christ often in our classes. I am disheartened that the institution has fired him so grievously. Praying for grace in this situation.

Although this is anecdotal, Nouthetic counseling has fallen short in its methods within my own life and in the lives of many friends compared with the results in other Christian counseling methods. As an institution, SBTS is making a decision that is going to handicap future church leaders in an increasing morally confused world

Lambert 's words were clearly slanderous, and his accusations and judgements are unfounded. Mohler was wrong to cave to this petty personal vendetta, firing one of the best and well-loved professors at Southern.

Lambert has gone over the line too often. He needs to be held accountable for his harmful words towards brothers and sisters in Christ.

As an alum of SBTS, I consider the wrongful firing of Dr. Eric Johnson due to coercive and unChristian manipulation of academic process and Dr. Mohler's duplicity in this action to be a reproach on SBTS and Baptists and Christians everywhere. This action makes me ashamed to be associated with SBTS.

SBTS needed more professors as humble and knowledgeable as Dr. Johnson. I hope SBTS will reconsider.

Dr. Johnson is a scholar, a godly man, and a truly qualified counseling practitioner. In a time where we need Christian counselors and pastors to have proper training in soul care, his position at SBTS was indispensable. Dr. Johnson taught students to deal with one of the hardest cases, the counselor himself or herself. I hope the administration at SBTS will reconsider. It is not too late to do the right thing.

I have been profoundly influenced by many who were taught by Dr. Johnson. And in the best, most biblical ways. By signing this petition I aim to express my support for him and his family, and my gratitude for his concern for soul-care and his willingness to integrate that into a biblical way of counseling. We need more from him, not less.

I chose to attend Southern because of their commitment to the Bible and because I believed that there was a robust discussion about the biblical message and its application to all of life. I was not sure if Southern was or was not a cool-aide seminary until I met Dr Johnson. I don't agree with everything he says and took Dr. Scott and Dr. Pierre, but if Johnson was not on the faculty I would have considered the academic honesty of Southern less than I do with him or someone like him balancing the perspectives. Furthermore, he is an incredibly committed and loyal champion of the Seminary despite his own (assumed) disagreements with Nouthetic counseling. ACBC has some deep flaws in its approach and often burns people it claims to help (mostly by not listening and answering too quickly). By staying in a conversation with other Christians committed to the gospel of Jesus ACBC can demonstrate that it is confident of its approach. I do not know all the details, but I hope there is a very transparent explanation for this event and I sign as a concerned alumni. MDiv SBTS 2016

I'm at a loss for words. I love SBTS and support it financially. This is deeply troubling to me.

I studied under Dr.Eric Johnson, he is an amazing theologian, with an incredible heart for Soul Care, not only of the lost, but for the struggle of the saved , and those reaching for maturity in Grace of Christ.
