**UPDATED** Petition Against the Wrongful Firing of Dr. Eric Johnson

Disgraceful

My husband took many classes with Dr. Johnson. We were both saddened and angered to hear how he has been treated by the seminary. May Dr. Johnson and his family be blessed and the Lord glorified in all things.

As someone who is a graduate of Philadelphia College of Bible, now Cairn University, with a degree in Bible (with an emphasis in Counseling), I have benefited from what God has allowed me to learn from this godly form of counseling/psychology. To intimidate someone into firing someone, because they don't believe EXACTLY as you do, is not only in-Christ-like, but the height of arrogance. Lambert's so-called apology is not only insincere, but an even greater sin.

Heartbreaking. Thankful God moves in the real world & not just in seminaries. Dr. Johnson's counsel has had a profound impact on my life. I have no doubt God will continue to open wide the doors of grace through Johnson's care & wisdom. Take heart, brother. You're not alone.

While I appreciate some of Dr. Lambert's words in response to this whole thing, the fact is that he and other nouthetic colleagues have long spoken disparagingly of CP. When Dr. Johnson was given the opportunity to rebut in a panel discussion of Counseling the Hard Cases, he declined to take the adversarial position. Dr. Johnson has done much to show students how to ask the right questions in counseling sessions - informed from theology and biblical knowledge, and aimed with precision by knowing what systems are in effect. The way the seminary is getting rid of him after his long service is unconscionable.

What you have done is wrong. If you think Christ would have caved to blackmail from some external group that chose to slander a good man trying to do God's work, you're wrong. And you know you're wrong.

I have an M.Div and I've had too many professors who either quit or were forced out of the seminary (and undergraduate Christian college) I attended due to their teachings challenging students to actually think critically, and in some cases challenging a very literal interpretation of the Bible. I am tired of donors or other organizations pushing their agenda, which doesn't allow for disenting opinions. I don't understand how a place can be an instute of higher education if they think the only source of God's truth has to come from the Bible.

I have known Eric for 5 years now and I have found him to be completely in love with Jesus. I have personally been inspired to witness his passion for Him and his directing many people toward Christ for healing. How wrong it is for him to be treated like this!

How ironic is it that the person (Lambert) who claims to be the biblical counselor is the purveyor of such hateful tactics - tactics he has practiced for some time against Dr. Johnson. Eric Johnson is one of the most compassionate and caring Christians I have ever known. His teaching is clearly Christ-centered for any who would take the time to read his work IN CONTEXT, something Lambert clearly has not done. SBTS will suffer for this decision, and so will the many folks who will seek help from the seminary's graduates.

Eric Johnson was on my Ph. D. Committee. His commitment to biblical orthodoxy is without question.
