SBTS grad in 2006 - I took several classes with Dr. Johnson and I greatly appreciate him and his pastoral heart. I don't know all the details but I am disappointed from what little I do know. I am thankful for you Dr. Johnson.

So sad. I have two children who graduated from Southern; our daughter our daughter received a master's in biblical counseling with Dr. Johnson as her advisor. He was also very helpful to her with some personal problems and very helpful to her and her fiance as they prepared for marriage. Being a registered nurse but also a former missionary and now pastor's wife I understand the tension between biblical counseling and using psychology. However I have seen the value of both. It saddens me that Christians would be fighting over something like this when so many in the world are dying without Christ.

Dr. Lambert was bashing Dr. Johnson publicly since I was an SBTS student in 2009. Always misquoting Dr. Johnson and making him out to be this DANGEROUS anti-christian professor. (MDiv SBTS '11)

As a current SBTS student and someone who took Dr. Johnson's class for intro to BC this is extremely frustrating. I just took A class with Dr Lambert and it was very obvious that he had strong differences from Dr. Johnson. I have continued a relationship with Dr Johnson and he has been so gracious to me and our church. I dont agree with him fully on his ideas but I respect him as a man and a lover of Jesus. This is very disappointing.

I'd like to ask you of not firing Dr. Johnson from his position. He's been a faithful and hard-working scholar for over decade years. He's a great treasure at SBTS.

I am an SBTS graduate. While there may be unknown reasons for this decision, I think it is worth signing this petition to remind leadership that many deeply respect Dr Johnson and what he symbolizes. Christian Psychology is not at odds with biblical counseling, and if SBTS has shifted their position, they owe students, faculty, and SBC churches a clear explanation.

This is outrageous! Dr. Johnson, in my opinion, is the most Spirit-filled, Christ-central, and true, vulnerable professor on campus. Without his teaching and influence in my life, I believe I would've graduated seminary feeling far more shame than loved by God. Dr. Johnson has a delicate way of balancing the real complexities of suffering with the Gospel, that is full of hope and awareness that life is hard and far from black and white. This is a huge mistake.

MDiv from SBTS. Eric is a dear and faithful brother who exudes the love and grace of his Savior. Our churches and seminaries need compassionate and humble men like Dr. Johnson. This action by SBTS is sad, to say the least, and is symptomatic of more troubling issues among Christian elites.

Dr Johnson's classes and counsel have been life changing for me. This is a great loss for southern seminary and what they had to offer to students.

Having watched the inner workings of SBTS for a decade this doesn't surprise me. The leaderships inner circle hiring and firings are a prime reason I recommend no one attend SBTS but stay home and serve your local church.

I was counseled by Dr. Johnson along with my wife. He was truly Christ centered and lead us to a deeper relationship with Christ as well as a better relationship with each other in our marriage.
