When was Dr. Johnson fired? I've not heard of this, but I am a little out of the loop.

I am deeply disturbed by the general movement this indicates in the Christian Counseling discipline, and shocked that Eric Johnson has been treated in this manner after his years at SBTS.

I have treasured my friendship and collaboration with Dr. Johnson over the past 10+ years. He exemplifies true Christian scholarship and life. SBTS will be vastly poorer, spiritually and academically, without him. I encourage the administration to reconsider.

I'm shocked and appalled at the actions that led to the firing of Dr. Johnson. It is a disgrace to all Christians and for SBTS in particular.

How shocking and cowardly for an institution to bend to the will of ACBC and Lambert and fail to keep SOMEONE on staff that thinks a little differently. SBTS keeps getting more and more inbred. You can defend Biblical truth and still have differing opinions on secondary issues. To make this a reason for firing is majoring on the minors and devaluing ideological diversity that actually makes institutions strong. I was seriously considering doing a ThM here with Dr Johnson and others. Forget that idea.

Absolutely disheartening from a school that my husband and I invested a lot into. In fact up until last week my husband was considering a starting a PHD at the school. We will no longer give this school which we love another penny. We have seen hearts changed towards Christ, marriages saved, and sinners repent as a result of this counseling methodology. These same people were denied counseling from the ACBC. It is a shame to not train our future pastors to truly walk with those that are suffering as Jesus did. This does not represent a step towards Christ but a step towards fundamentalism.

Dr. Johnson brings balance to a one sided view. People's minds and bodies are broken. We need men like Dr. Johnson to provide a biblical lense to psychology. Instead of hiding and running away from it.

As a future student, I'm saddened by this news. How will I be received at SBTS as someone who does not fit the culture mold?

This is a travesty and should not be allowed to stand. Economic terrorism is something the Kingdom of Darkness employs. The Church of Christ does not do this!

SBTS MDiv, 2015.
I am signing this statement in affirmation of Dr. Johnson's career of academic excellence and genuine integrity AND with the hope that Southern will not sell their legacy for expedient financial or political gains. As a student, I never once heard Dr. Johnson disparage Dr. Lambert despite the malicious attacks that swirled around the campus from ACBC students who had been taught that Dr. Johnson was a “sell out” or a “horrible theologian” who didn’t take the Bible seriously. I hope that whatever has transpired will come to public light so that Southern’s reputation will not be further marred by this suspicious, draconian behavior. Unfortunately I know a great many SBTS students, affiliates, and faculty who are afraid to sign this petition for fear of the exact same type of unjust retribution that was dispensed upon Dr. Johnson.
