I find the grounds on which Dr. Johnson was fired to be questionable at best the way it is presented here. The has Lord provided extra-Biblical methods for physical and mental healing throughout history. Graduate B.A. in History and Religious Studies, Western Kentucky University

At a time when I confused about what it meant to be a Christian involved in caring for souls, I was graced to meet Eric Johnson. Eric possesses the rare gift that combines extra measures of both intellect and humility, which are too often lacking amongst even Christians today. Eric, I am just one of many touched by your graciousness and I am grateful for you. Jason Kanz, PhD, ABPP Board Certified in Clinical Neuropsychology Marshfield Clinic

This is so sad and makes me sick! Dr. Johnson is one of the best professors at SBTS. My husband who is a masters graduate of SBTS struggles with anxiety and depression. If it weren't for Dr. Johnson he would not have gotten the help he needed while in seminary. Dr. Johnson's teaching along with our pastor in Louisville helped him get through some of the darkest times in his life. He reached out to others and they would not help him. This is ourageous.

One of the most kind, and HUMBLE man I know. Who is generous with his time to those in need. Always an encourager.

I am a former president of the Christian Association for Psychological Studies--Western Region. Christian psychotherapists use what can be learned from observing God's nature scientifically and only use it when it is consistent with Scripture which they hold has final authority. Firing Dr. Johnson is throwing out science as un-Christian. Do Southern Baptists really want to throw out science when practiced under submission to Divine lordship? I stand with Dr. Eric Johnson.

Your decision is not based on the facts of biblical principles. You're making a judgment about therapy as though it was separate from God. All therapy is is a detailed version (expediencies) of what the scripture says. It does not supersede the Word even though somehow you believe it has. Similar to a medical doctor doesn't really heal anyone, he sets the bone straight with a medical intervention that fits the principles of God's healing, and the healing of the bone is God's healing via either His divine power or via the already instituted divine method of the body healing itself.

Being mentally unhealthy doesn't mean you have sinned against God just like being physically not well . I am opposed to anything that believes not being healthy means you need to just be a better Christian .

Deeply disappointed by this decision. Dr. Johnson had a profound impact on my husband during seminary. He has thought a lot about pursuing another degree at SBTS, but sadly this has changed his mind. I hope Southern will make this right. Wife of 2017 SBTS MDiv graduate

It is reasons like this that our culture is more and more turned away from Christianity. To condemn science, even when congruent with the Bible, is idiotic. To fire someone because the hold a different, yet still Biblical view from you, is ridiculous . Seems like a lot of people at the Baptist Seminary have been isolated in their Bublical intellectual holes for so long that they've refused to accept science, and are extremely arrogant about it.
