Steve's approach to his work is creative and highly supportive of Fine Art students and staff. Battersea would do well to actively harness his energy and vision to create more support for the RCA community.

As a Printmaking student creating an installation piece for the show last year Steve's help in making it happen was so significant that basically it WOULDN'T have happened without him. To remove him from fine art would be highly detrimental to the work of all fine art students, not just sculpture. I really cannot fathom why this move would make any sense to anyone whatsoever.

What possible rationale could there be for this? Steve has an evident passion for sculpture and his expertise and approach is surely irreplaceable.

As a painter in kensington last year I have used both workshops, and noticed a difference, design students seem to know a lot more about what they’re doing, often in fine art students are a lot more searching and out of control when it comes to the making process so I think Steve’s assets: friendly, funny, easy going, caring and genuinely interested in the students and their work are going to be of much more value in Battersea

Steve is fantastic and he is needed in the sculpture department, without him the department and students will suffer

This move appears calculated, it is certainly absurd. Steve Bunn has had the respect of the students because he cares about what they do. They know that. His verve, and his commitment, is indefatigable. His skill, materially and conceptually, at delivering on projects is also exceptional. Everybody knows that. He's a dedicated fine art professional senior figures at the royal college have, for many years, been grateful to have. And now? What's changed? Some answers, I think, after his imediate reinstatement in the role he has given so much to define. It is an outrage and afarce

As Steve came to work in Sculpture with a Sculpture based c.v. that must be where he belongs

This is truly a travesty. Steve is a highly skilled and passionate individual that is a rare gift to all Fine Art students (students who pay quite a bit for their education). Mr. Bunn shows great encouragement and turns up to the Battersea campus ready to help anyone seeking his plethora of knowledge. It is more than a job for him. It is an opportunity to help others learn and grow in their practice. Do the right thing and keep him where he belongs.

Over the past few years the Sculpture Dept has had a pretty rough time of it, staffing-wise. To remove a much-loved member of the team who brings with him so much expertise at a time when the department seems to be getting back on it's feet can only be counterproductive. Removing Steve from the Battersea campus would be a blow not only to the Sculpture Dept, but to the School of Fine Art as a whole. Please reconsider this decision.

This would be another huge blow in a series of ongoing events. Too valuable to allow this to happen!

As a new research student with over 15 years of fine art teaching experience I would observe that Steve Bunn has a rare combination of generosity, skill and knowledge. It is extremely difficult to balance academic and technical support within a fine art studio and I can see the fantastic work that he enables students to realise.

Losing Steve Bunn from Sculpture is an extraordinary loss, not only causing a corresponding deficit of technical staff in an already over stretched Sculpture department (with clear adverse knock-on effects to the upcoming work in progress and degree shows), but also totally disregarding of the vital role that Steve plays both in Sculpture and across the whole of the Fine Art School. His wealth of knowledge and skills, his active engagement with both staff and students, enthusiasm, insightful advice and general remarkable level of commitment to make him a truly unique and invaluable member of staff who, quite simply, makes the department what it is. To lose him would be devastating. This decision must be reversed.
