Poor decision from the Southern League. Hope the FA have more sense. Dale Roberts will never be forgotten.

Why does the keeper need a number when he wears a different shirt? As long as he is identified any old number will do. Get a grip you jobsworths!

I think this is disgusting, the club shouldn't be told that they need a number one. They retired the number in memory of this young man, I believe the football league should let them leave the number retired

Signed. This is nothing but a shambles. Hope it gets over-turned. Honour the clubs decision and memory.

I support the demand to respect the No 1 shirt last worn by Dale Roberts. The Southern League should have the decency to do the same.

Show some compassion to the family and fans. It's not as if other goalies don't wear other numbers. Or are you worried about upsetting the Terry family?

Unbelievably petty but it does not surprise me

Disgraceful who do some people think they are. No 1 has been retired as a moment of respect to the lad who died.

Reverse this anally retentive stance. R&D should be allowed to show respect for the player and compassion for his family. Changing a shirt number hurts no-one so why be obstinate for the sake of being obstinate?

If the decision is not reversed then I for one would support RDFC in walking off the pitch in the first round of the Southern League Red Insure Cup and forfeiting the fixture / cup.

Should be no problem not to have to use a number 1 shirt. Stupid ruling

As a fellow goalkeeper I support this cause whole heartedly!

There's no rational reason why a league can't honor the memory of a player who happened to wear number one for his club.

The FA have retired a Players Number on a shirt before, why not now?

This young man deserves to be remembered. The FA and southern league are a disgrace not to allow something as simple as retiring his number, to remember him by. Respect need to be shown.

How can it hurt to honour a memory?
