In modern day football, clubs should be allowed to use whatever numbers they wish to use. Especially if this means retiring a number. Why can the "big boys" do it but not the non league proper footballers and clubs?

Is it time that 1-11 rules got relaxed anyway? Southern League allows contracted players...shouldn't a contracted player therefore have a squad number!

Leave the number 1 shirt in memory of Dale, you don't HAVE to have a number 1 shirt. You wouldn't see a council go remove a memorial for a dead loved one.
