This isn't rebellion it's a sign of respect! Something that we are all told is lost in this day in age! Let's show that respect is not lost and allow them to retire the number one shirt.

I worked with Dale on the Art of saving with Mick Payne. Dale was a top lad, good coach and a tribute to his family

this is so disrespectful and a precedent has been set on one league allowing it. Dale used to play for my club Bishop Auckland when he was on loan in his early days . A lovely lad and I'll always remember the sad events of that awful day. Hope this gets sorted soon.

Since the formation of squad numbers players play in the outfield with their allocated number..which means the traditional numbers we used recognise with say the right back being number 2 is gone so why not the keeper. Let's face it he wears a different colour shirt so what's the problem... SHow SOME RESPECT!

Its a shame that some pen pushing official is being a prat. .when every other league has said yes.

There is an exception to every rule and this is it. The league needs to show respect and compassion.

I hope as a mark of respect for Dale & his family they reverse their decision and retire the number, don't think anyone would want to wear Dales number out of respect for him and his family.

A small concession on the league's part would mean so much to the family and friends of Dale Roberts.

Dale and his family were close friends of ours, so this would be a fitting memory for a talented lad who's life was cut so short.
